Get a key and protect it

  1. Log in to Albatross. Open API Keys and create a key if your role allows it; otherwise ask the organization administrator to issue one with the required model permissions.
  2. Copy the newly displayed value once and store it securely. Paste it only into the intended client's API Key field. Lost keys must be replaced through the normal account workflow, not recovered from screenshots.

Model catalog versus permissions

Models shows published names, capabilities and prices. Your key's model permissions and current publication decide what you can actually call. Fetch the list in the client; developers can use GET /v1/models with that key. Copy exact customer aliases, not upstream routing names.

Quota, wallet and Usage

A spending quota limits permitted consumption; wallet balance is available money. Either can stop a request. A rate limit controls request speed instead. Open the console Usage page after processing and compare the time, model, key and amount with your operation.

Usage visibility depends on key ownership, not who handed you the key. Ordinary members can see their own personal keys and service-account keys for accounts they are responsible for. Organization-owned keys and other users' keys are outside that scope. Ask the organization administrator to check those requests and charges, supplying the key name or prefix, model, time and request ID, never the full key. No visible record does not mean no charge; do not retry solely because the list is empty.

One click can send several requests: connection capability tests, automatic titles and local tool continuations are separate work. Client estimates, Albatross customer debits and upstream costs are three different figures.

Recover from a problem

  • Invalid key: check the address and credential in your Albatross profile; do not change another provider's saved key.
  • Not allowed: ask the organization administrator to check the key's model permissions. Adding a model name manually cannot unlock it.
  • Insufficient quota or balance: ask your administrator to resolve it before retrying. Rate limited: wait before a bounded retry.
  • Timeout or interrupted output: preserve the error and time, check Usage, then try a short request. Never assume a partial reply is complete or a cancelled request is free.
